The EnFlyte Endeavor: October 2024 Newsletter

The EnFlyte Endeavor

October 2024 Edition

Apparently, it's October now?

We can't believe it either. Leaves are changing and falling, pumpkin spice has descended upon us, and the hoodies are moving to the front of the line up.

While the bulk of triathlons have ended for the season, the fall running races are about to see an upswing.

October is also an exciting time because we're getting married!!! We will do our best to ensure athlete training plans are completed, but please be advised that our responses may be delayed.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to what this new season in our lives has in store for us!

Coaches Christina & Jon

USAT Nationals

We are not done highlighting the mental toughness and physical agility displayed by coached athlete Kelsey Miller.

Stay tuned for an in-depth interview to learn more about her decision to race Athena category, what she attributes success to and how she balances all the things: a career as a nurse anesthetist, a heavy training schedule, and her family.

It's all in your head.

We've all seen the silver-looking Chunky bar headbands athletes wear to stay cool on a run. They don't look cool, but the intent is to magnify the body's natural cooling process.

Based on recent research referenced in Outside on-line, the headband, in certain conditions, can reduce the surface temperature of your forehead which shifts your perception, but it does not lower heart rate or core body temperature.

If you're interested in learning more about how you can shift your perception, reach out to Coach Christina on learning more about the benefits of mental performance coaching.

Salt is essential.

Growing up, salt seemed to be a 'no-no'. It was believed to negatively impact blood pressure, increase the likelihood of a premature death.

As athletes, we have some idea that there are benefits to electrolyte & sodium enhanced beverages and adding some extra salt to our foods leading up to race day.

But what's the deal?

The article can get a little nerdy, but there are some easy-to-read graphics that help relay the content.

What's brewing:

Doing big things

The EnFlyte Endeavor January 2025 Edition Happy New Year!! Closing out 2024 with a big swim! As we close the chapter on 2024, we reflect on how far we’ve come—not just as individuals but as a community. It didn't always feel good, but we tried to stay grounded by trusting in our vision and leaning on each other. Here's what makes this journey so rewarding: the overwhelming...

Snowshoeing in 2020

The EnFlyte Endeavor December 2024 Edition Holy moly! It's December! Just a few more steps... We've reached the proverbial finishers chute of 2024. To an outsider, endurance sports seem like a selfish and lonely endeavor. This year we were reminded that it's the people who help us be successful. Instead of limiting our circle, we wanted to bring more people in. Our focus is on creating a supportive community, not just another club. We believe 2024 was a podium year for all of us and we look...
